Bret is in Niger

Hello to everyone!

I am in Niger.  As you can see, I have internet capability, but it is at another missionaries house, so I am not sure how often I will get it.

Our flights were uneventful and pleasant.  We were pleased to learn that the food on the Air Maroc flight was good, and that they put us in a hotel and provided breakfast and lunch.  It was nice to have a bed for a couple hours sleep, and to be able to take a hot shower.

We flew over with a dozen or so believers from a church from York, Pa. who were going to Ougadougo, Burkina Faso to do some construction and ministry.  It was good to fellowship with them.

We made it to Niamey around 2 AM this morning and made it through customs with no problem.  God was good to us because Ed, the Navy Chaplain who is on the trip, did not have his shot card because it was not returned by the Nigerien embassy.  They asked for Durant's shot card, and then made me show mine, but God protected us and they did not notice Ed.  Otherwise we could have had a bit of a mess.

The ride back was long and tiring, but it is good to see Rich and Ginger, and Pastor Nelson again.  We will begin to teach tomorrow.  I will be teaching in the discipleship/leadership school in the morning, and then probably in a village in the afternoon.  The village church there has had some problems, so Rich is not sure if I will be doing evangelism or if I will be teaching believers.  I guess the key word will be flexibility!

My ankles are swollen pretty bad, so please pray for that, and especially that God would use me to strengthen believers and reach the lost.

I will try to update in the next couple of days and send some pictures if possible.

Love,

Bret
