Jer

Dear Bay Ridge Family,
Today is Thursday, July 31, 2008. Hello from Mezcales, Mexico. Mezcales is a town within the city of Puerto Vallarta, which is in the state of Jalisco in Mexico. The construction that we are doing as well as the church that we are staying at is here in this town.
First I would like to thank you all who received the call to prayer this morning. I am very thankful to know that you as our church family have been supporting us since before we left and are continuing to do so while we are here.
God was very good to us today. Although we encountered some frustrations God poured His Spirit out on us richly and allowed us to walk and operate in spirit of humility and unity. Today there were 11 ofus on the work site including Lee Short, and three Mexicans who have been helping us. We started work this morning at 6:30 and continued working for nearly 12 and a half hours.
The majority of the work consited of using wood to form up the area where concrete would be poured to make the beams for the second floor. Then we ordered the concrete and, once it arrived, moved it to where it needed to be. Additionally we made great strides in preapering for the work that will be going on over the next few days. We put together the steel skelatons that will be used later to reinforce the concrete columns on another part of the property. Bret would like you to know that if ever you need this done you should call him. He spent nearly 7 hours fabricating theses skelatons today and tying them together with wires. He is a veritable expert willing and able to share his new-found skill. In fact, there is a rumor started by jer that Bret is considering leaving the ministry to pursue full-time vocational work as a steel worker; especially if the job promises to be under-paid, and overbearing. Tell Him Jer sent you and he’ll even give you a 20% discount.
We returned to the church this evening tired, sore, burnt, cut, bruised, and very very pleased with the work we accomplished today. Tonight the church is alive with the buzz of a team that has worked for a weeek and is ready for a break. Tomorrow we have a day to relax which will be spent in various ways. On Saturday 4 of our team will be heading home and we will miss them. They have each (Carol Collison, Levi, Back, Aaron Mayhew, and Kevin Spence) been a tremendous addition to our team.
Please keep Levi in your prayers. He has been a little sick . He is in great spirits though and is only bummed because we are keeping him from doing the work that he came to do until he is well again.
Please continue to pray for the rest of us. We want more than anything that God would be glorified in and through us: our work, or attitudes, our demeanor, our impact. We covet your prayers.
I look forward to worshiping with you all again very soon. Until then…

Rich Blessings!
Jer
